Product Features

LAB is a colorless to pale yellow transparent viscous liquid at room temperature. It is readily soluble in water and exhibits excellent solubility. In acidic media (low pH), it displays cationic properties, while in alkaline media (high pH), it shows anionic behavior, enabling stable compatibility with various surfactants across a wide pH range.

The unique amide structure of LAB endows it with superior performance compared to conventional alkyl betaines. It is extremely mild, with very low irritation to the skin and eyes, making it a preferred ingredient for formulating gentle cleansing and care products. It effectively reduces the irritation caused by anionic surfactants such as SLS/SLES. LAB produces rich, fine, and stable foam, maintaining excellent foaming performance even in hard water, and significantly improving the overall foam quality of the system.

When compounded with anionic surfactants such as AES or SLES, LAB exhibits a synergistic effect, substantially increasing product viscosity and contributing to a desirable creamy consistency. It also enhances hair combability, reduces static, and leaves hair softer and smoother. Additionally, LAB demonstrates good emulsifying capacity and lubricating properties.

Application

Personal Cleaning and Care (Core Applications): Shampoos and Conditioners: Serves as a primary mild surfactant and conditioning agent, providing rich lather and smoothness.

Facial Cleansers and Body Washes: Functions as a core surfactant, ensuring effective cleansing while significantly reducing skin irritation.

Baby Care Products: Due to its excellent mildness, it is a preferred ingredient in baby shampoos and bath formulations.

Oral Care: Used in select mild toothpastes and mouthwashes.

Household Cleaners: Applied in premium hand dishwashing liquids and laundry detergents for its skin-friendly properties and strong foaming performance.

Safety and Storage

From a safety perspective, LAB is irritating to the skin and eyes. Strict personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn during handling to avoid direct contact.

In case of skin or eyes contact, immediately rinse with plenty of water for at least 30 minutes and seek medical assistance.

It should be sealed and stored in a cool, dry, well-ventilated indoor place, protected from moisture and strictly guarded against exposure to sunlight.
