Product Features

CAB is a colorless to pale yellow transparent viscous liquid at room temperature. It is readily soluble in water and exhibits excellent solubility. In acidic media (low pH), it displays cationic properties, while in alkaline media (high pH), it shows anionic behavior, enabling stable compatibility with various surfactants across a wide pH range.

The unique amide structure of LAB endows it with superior performance compared to conventional alkyl betaines. It is extremely mild, with very low irritation to the skin and eyes, making it a preferred ingredient for formulating gentle cleansing and care products. It effectively reduces the irritation caused by anionic surfactants such as SLS/SLES. CAB produces rich, fine, and stable foam, maintaining excellent foaming performance even in hard water, and significantly improving the overall foam quality of the system.

When compounded with anionic surfactants such as AES or SLES, CAB exhibits a synergistic effect, substantially increasing product viscosity and contributing to a desirable creamy consistency. It also enhances hair combability, reduces static, and leaves hair softer and smoother. Additionally, CAB demonstrates good emulsifying capacity and lubricating properties.

Application

Personal Care and Household Products: It is a core ingredient in medium to high‑grade shampoos, body washes, facial cleansers, hand soaps, foam cleansers, and similar products, especially suitable for formulating mild baby shampoos, baby bubble baths, and baby skincare products. Its main functions include foaming, foam stabilization, thickening, conditioning, and reducing overall formulation irritation.

Recommended dosage: Typically 3%-10% in shampoos and body washes, and 1%-2% in cosmetic products.

Household Detergents: Used in the preparation of household cleaning agents, leveraging its cleaning and antistatic properties.

Industrial Applications:

Oilfield Recovery: Serves as a viscosity reducer, enhanced oil recovery agent, and foaming agent. It utilizes its surface activity to wet, penetrate, and strip crude oil from oil‑bearing mud, improving tertiary oil recovery rates.

Textile and Dyeing Industry: Used as a high-performance softening agent and antistatic agent.

Other Fields: Also applicable as a metal surface treatment agent, wetting agent, bactericide, etc.

Safety and Storage

From a safety perspective, CAB is irritating to the skin and eyes. Strict personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn during handling to avoid direct contact.

In case of skin or eyes contact, immediately rinse with plenty of water for at least 30 minutes and seek medical assistance.

It should be sealed and stored in a cool, dry, well-ventilated indoor place, protected from moisture and strictly guarded against exposure to sunlight.
