Product Features

 

EHSB typically appears as a light yellow to amber transparent viscous liquid at room temperature. High-purity products may also be white powders. It is readily soluble in water and polar organic solvents such as ethanol. In aqueous solution, it forms worm-like micelles that entangle to construct a three-dimensional network structure, enabling the solution to exhibit extremely high viscosity and pronounced viscoelasticity under specific conditions (e.g., in acidic environments or at certain concentrations). EHSB demonstrates good compatibility with various additives and possesses outstanding resistance to high temperature, shear, salt, and hard water. It achieves satisfactory proppant-carrying performance even at sand ratios of 30% or 40%. The system can break gel spontaneously in the presence of formation water, leaving no residue after gel breaking, which meets the requirements for clean fracturing fluids.

 



Application

 

EHSB features a molecular structure based on the ultra-long-chain hydroxysultaine derived from erucic acid, which not only retains all the advantages of traditional long-chain sulfobetaines but also offers enhanced properties such as temperature resistance, salt tolerance, a wide isoelectric point range, strong bactericidal and mildew-inhibiting capabilities, high viscoelasticity, and excellent solubility. These characteristics make it widely applicable in various fields, including enhanced oil recovery, leather processing, and daily chemical industries.

EHSB can achieve ultra-low oil-water interfacial tension in formulations without requiring any additional additives. It also exhibits effective emulsification of crude oil, low adsorption onto formation rocks, and minimal formation damage.

Due to its ultra-low interfacial tension performance, EHSB can serve as a chemical flooding agent for tertiary oil recovery. Laboratory tests have demonstrated that it can improve oil recovery by more than 12%.

Compared to common alternatives such as CAB or BS-12, the key advantage of EHSB lies in its hydrophobic tail derived from erucic acid (C22:1). The introduction of a longer carbon chain and sulfonate groups provides superior temperature and salt resistance, enhanced thickening capability, and the ability to form high-strength viscoelastic systems, making it particularly suitable for high-temperature and high-salinity oilfield applications.




Safety and Storage

 

From a safety perspective, EHSB is irritating to the skin and eyes. Strict personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn during handling to avoid direct contact.

In case of skin or eyes contact, immediately rinse with plenty of water for at least 30 minutes and seek medical assistance.

It should be sealed and stored in a cool, dry, well-ventilated indoor place, protected from moisture and strictly guarded against exposure to sunlight.
