1831MS generally exists as a white to pale yellow powder, granule or paste at room temperature, with the specific form varying depending on purity and production process. It is readily soluble in water and also has good solubility in polar solvents. It is relatively stable under neutral to weakly acidic conditions but may decompose in contact with strong alkalis. Meanwhile, long-term storage at high temperatures should be avoided to prevent deterioration. It possesses excellent adsorptive properties, and its aqueous solution exhibits cationic characteristics, enabling it to effectively adsorb onto negatively charged surfaces (e.g., skin, hair, fibers, etc.). It also typically provides softening, antistatic and conditioning effects.
Application
Personal Care and Daily Chemicals: This is its primary application field. As a core conditioning ingredient in conditioners, hair masks, shampoos and other products, compared with traditional chlorine-type quaternary ammonium salts, it has lower irritation to the skin and mucous membranes, making it more suitable for personal care products with a very high cost performance ratio.
Textile Industry: Serving as a high-grade fabric softener and antistatic agent, it is applied to fabrics such as wool and silk to enhance fluffiness, softness and hand feel.
