Product Features

1229 appears as a yellow gelatinous substance at ambient temperature and may form a waxy solid at lower temperatures. It possesses an aromatic odor and an intensely bitter taste. It is readily soluble in water and ethanol, slightly soluble in acetone, and insoluble in diethyl ether. Its aqueous solution is alkaline and produces copious foam upon vigorous shaking. The melting point ranges from approximately 46-55℃, and the flash point exceeds 110℃.

Chemically stable, it is resistant to light and heat, non-volatile, and can be stored for extended periods. It should be noted that it is incompatible with soaps and other anionic surfactants, various salts (e.g., iodides, nitrates), and aluminum products. Concurrent use with these substances may result in reduced potency or inactivation.

It exhibits excellent bactericidal and detergent properties without corroding metals. 1229 has low toxicity, is non-irritating to tissues, non-cumulative, and shows minimal irritation to human skin and mucous membranes, with a low tendency to cause allergic reactions. Its bactericidal and cleansing actions are potent and rapid, and it does not stain fabrics.

Application

1229 is widely used, primarily as aqueous solutions diluted to various concentrations:

Skin and Mucous Membrane Disinfection: For preoperative skin disinfection and handwashing; solutions are also used for rinsing wounds and mucous membranes.

Instrument Disinfection: Used for disinfecting surgical instruments (requires boiling for 15 minutes followed by soaking for 30 minutes).

Environmental and Object Disinfection: 0.1% - 0.5% solutions can be used for disinfecting environmental surfaces and objects.

Industrial Applications: Functions as a bactericide-algicide and slime stripper in industrial water treatment, as a water injection bactericide in oilfields, and as an antibacterial agent in textile dyeing and printing.

Safety and Storage

From a safety perspective, 1229 is irritating to the skin and eyes. Strict personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn during handling to avoid direct contact.

In case of skin or eyes contact, immediately rinse with plenty of water for at least 30 minutes and seek medical assistance.

It should be sealed and stored in a cool, dry, well-ventilated indoor place, protected from moisture and strictly guarded against exposure to sunlight.
