Product Features

1227 appears as white to pale yellow crystalline powder, waxy solid, or yellow gelatinous substance at ambient temperature. Its aqueous solution is a colorless or light yellow clear liquid with an aromatic odor and an intensely bitter taste. It is highly soluble in water or ethanol, unaffected by water hardness, and slightly soluble in diethyl ether.

The compound demonstrates good resistance to heat, acids, and bases, maintaining effective bactericidal potency within a pH range of 3.5 to 9.5. It exhibits good compatibility with cationic and non-ionic surfactants. However, it is incompatible with soaps and other anionic surfactants, citrates, iodides, and nitrates, as concurrent use may result in precipitation or deactivation. Its efficacy is reduced upon binding with proteins.

1227 possesses broad-spectrum, high-efficiency bactericidal activity, showing significant effectiveness against Gram-positive bacteria and other microorganisms. It also combines multiple functions, including slime stripping, dispersing and penetrating, oil and odor removal, and a certain degree of corrosion inhibition. It has low toxicity, exhibits no cumulative toxicity, and demonstrates a high biodegradation rate (exceeding 85%).

Application

Medical Disinfection & Personal Care: Suitable for skin and mucosal disinfection, wound antisepsis, vaginal irrigation, surgical instrument sterilization, and as a preservative in eye drops. Also used in products such as adhesive bandages (benzalkonium chloride patches), wet wipes, hand sanitizers, and shampoos.

Industrial Water Treatment: Functions as a bactericide-algicide (dosage: 50-100 mg/L) and a slime stripper (dosage: 200-300 mg/L) in recirculating cooling water systems, effectively controlling microbial/algal growth and biofilm formation.

Textile & Animal Husbandry Industries: Serves as a leveling agent, softening agent, and antistatic agent for acrylic fibers dyed with cationic dyes. Also employed for disinfecting breeding environments and equipment in animal husbandry.

Other Industrial Applications: Used as a bactericide, emulsifier, etc., in industries such as petroleum, chemical manufacturing, and power generation.

Safety and Storage

From a safety perspective, 1227 is irritating to the skin and eyes. Strict personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn during handling to avoid direct contact.

In case of skin or eyes contact, immediately rinse with plenty of water for at least 30 minutes and seek medical assistance.

It should be sealed and stored in a cool, dry, well-ventilated indoor place, protected from moisture and strictly guarded against exposure to sunlight.
