Bifunctional characteristics: Possessing both a hydrophilic amino group and a lipophilic long carbon chain, it serves as an excellent surfactant intermediate.
Excellent corrosion inhibition performance: It can form a protective film through adsorption on metal surfaces, functioning as a high-efficiency corrosion inhibitor.
Superior emulsifying capacity: Exhibits outstanding emulsifying ability for hydrophobic substances such as asphalt and mineral oil.
Application
Asphalt emulsifier: One of the most classic and primary applications of DAO. It is used in road construction and maintenance for preparing stable asphalt emulsions.
Mineral flotation agent: In the mining industry, DAO serves as a flotation agent for separating valuable minerals, especially in the flotation of phosphate ore and other minerals.
Lubricating oil additive and corrosion inhibitor: In the petroleum industry, DAO acts as a lubricating oil additive and metal corrosion inhibitor to protect equipment from corrosion.
Surfactant intermediate: DAO is a key intermediate for the synthesis of cationic surfactants (e.g., quaternary ammonium salts) and amphoteric surfactants (e.g., betaines). The final products are widely used in daily chemical, textile, and other fields.
Safety and Storage
From a safety perspective, DAO is corrosive and irritating to the skin, eyes, and mucous membranes, contact may cause burns. Therefore, strict personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn during handling to avoid direct contact with the skin and eyes.In accordance with the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG Code), it is classified as Class 8 Corrosive Substances, with the United Nations Number (UN No.) 2922 and Packing Group II.
In case of skin contact, immediately rinse with plenty of water for at least 30 minutes and seek medical assistance.
Store in a cool, well-ventilated place(the recommended storage temperature is below 30°C). Keep container tightly sealed. Store separately from strong oxidizers and acids.
