Under ambient temperature and pressure, DMA10 is a colorless to pale yellow transparent oily liquid. It is poorly soluble in water but miscible with organic solvents such as chloroform and ethyl acetate. The tertiary amine group in its molecule endows it with weak basicity, allowing it to react with alkylating agents including methyl chloride, benzyl chloride and dimethyl sulfate to produce various cationic quaternary ammonium salt surfactants (e.g., benzyl quaternary ammonium salt 1027). It can react with hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) to form amine oxides, a category of nonionic surfactants with excellent foaming performance. Additionally, it is capable of reacting with reagents like sodium chloroacetate to generate betaine, an amphoteric surfactant. The C10 carbon chain of DMA10 has a moderate length, which imparts favorable surface activity and permeability to downstream products.




Application

 

Cationic Surfactants:Reaction with quaternizing agents such as methyl chloride and benzyl chloride (e.g., for the production of benzyl quaternary ammonium salt 1027) yields quaternary ammonium salts. These products are mainly used as bactericides, disinfectant preservatives and antistatic agents.

Amphoteric Surfactants:Reaction with reagents like sodium chloroacetate generates betaines. These products feature low irritation and have important applications in oilfield EOR and daily chemical products.

Amine Oxides:Reaction with hydrogen peroxide produces amine oxides, which are widely used as foaming agents and foam stabilizers in the daily chemical detergency industry.




Safety and Storage

 

From a safety perspective, DMA10 is irritating and corrosive to the skin and eyes, and contact may cause burns. Strict personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn during handling to avoid direct contact.

In case of skin or eyes contact, immediately rinse with plenty of water for at least 30 minutes and seek medical assistance.

Stored in a sealed container in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area, away from sources of ignition, heat, and oxidizing agents.Store separately from incompatible substances such as acids.
