Product Features
Dioctylmethylamine (MA88) appears as a colorless to pale yellow transparent liquid at room temperature. It is insoluble in water while readily soluble in most organic solvents. As a versatile intermediate for synthesizing cationic surfactants, MA88 can react with alkylating agents such as methyl chloride to produce dioctyldimethylammonium chloride, a type of cationic quaternary ammonium salt.
Application
The core application of MA88 is its reaction with methyl chloride to produce dioctyldimethylammonium chloride, a high-efficiency bactericide that is widely used in fields such as industrial water treatment, animal husbandry, and swimming pool disinfection.
Safety and Storage
From a safety perspective, MA88 is irritating and corrosive to the skin and eyes, and contact may cause burns. Strict personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn during handling to avoid direct contact.
