Product Features

MADHT appears as a white to pale yellow solid or paste at room temperature, with its specific form subject to variations in purity and temperature, and it has a faint amine or ammonia-like odor. It can react with alkylating agents such as methyl chloride and benzyl chloride to form dialkyl quaternary ammonium salts (e.g., D1821/D1817). Thanks to its two long carbon chains, the surfactants derived from MADHT exhibit stronger surface activity as well as superior softening and emulsifying properties compared with those derived from single-chain tertiary amines.

Application

Textile Industry: Its quaternary ammonium salt derivatives serve as high-efficiency fabric softeners and antistatic agents, which can significantly improve the hand feel of textiles.

Sugar Decolorant: Its quaternary ammonium salt D1821 acts as a decolorant for sucrose.

Oilfield Additives: It functions as a corrosion inhibitor, emulsifier, etc., and also serves as a modifier for oilfield bentonite, featuring thickening and high-temperature resistance properties.

Pigments and Dyestuffs: It works as a dispersant to enhance the stability of pigments in the medium.

Safety and Storage

From a safety perspective, MADHT is irritating and corrosive to the skin and eyes, and contact may cause burns. Strict personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn during handling to avoid direct contact.

In case of skin or eyes contact, immediately rinse with plenty of water for at least 30 minutes and seek medical assistance.

Stored in a sealed container in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area, away from sources of ignition, heat, and oxidizing agents.Store separately from incompatible substances such as acids.
