Product Features
TEHA is a colorless to pale yellow oily liquid at room temperature, gradually turning yellow upon exposure to light. It has a characteristic ammonia-like odor, is insoluble in water, yet readily soluble in organic solvents such as alcohols, benzene and toluene. TEHA is alkaline and capable of undergoing neutralization reactions with acids. It exhibits high selectivity and high extraction efficiency for a variety of precious and heavy metal ions; for instance, the extraction efficiency for mercury (Ⅱ) can reach over 98%. It features stable chemical properties, low solubility in water, low loss tendency and reusability. The long-chain alkyl structure of TEHA endows it with strong lipophilicity, making it particularly suitable for extracting target substances from the aqueous phase.
Application
Polyester Resin Industry: It serves as a triboelectric charging agent for friction spraying of friction-type polyester resins, with a recommended dosage of 0.2%.
Metal Extraction and Separation: This is the most important and widely used application of triisooctylamine. It is employed in hydrometallurgy and analytical chemistry for the selective extraction and separation of precious metals (e.g., gold, palladium, platinum) and heavy metals (e.g., mercury, uranium). For example, it is used to recover uranium and plutonium from nuclear industry wastewater, as well as to extract trace amounts of gold and platinum from ores or waste liquids.
Organic Synthesis Intermediate: As a chemical raw material, it is used in the synthesis of dyes, plastics, rubbers, coatings and pesticides.
TEHA also finds application in the production of polyurethane foams.
Safety and Storage
From a safety perspective, TEHA is irritating and corrosive to the skin and eyes, and contact may cause burns. Strict personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn during handling to avoid direct contact.
In case of skin or eyes contact, immediately rinse with plenty of water for at least 30 minutes and seek medical assistance.
Stored in a sealed container in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area, away from sources of ignition, heat, and oxidizing agents.Store separately from incompatible substances such as acids.
