Product Features

 

PKO12 may exist as a white to pale yellow liquid or solid at room temperature, with its specific form depending on ambient temperature and purity. It has a density of approximately 0.882-0.883 g/cm3 and a melting point ranging from 34.5 to 38.5. It is poorly soluble in water yet miscible with organic solvents such as ethanol; it is alkaline, and its water solubility increases significantly when neutralized with acids to form salts. PKO12 serves as a key intermediate for the production of various high-end surfactants. It can react with chloroacetic acid to produce betaines, with hydrogen peroxide to yield amine oxides, and also with alkylating agents such as methyl chloride to generate quaternary ammonium salts. In addition, it exhibits excellent emulsifying, dispersing, corrosion-inhibiting, lubricating and antistatic properties. It has low irritation to the skin and mucous membranes, along with good biocompatibility.




Application

 

Core Intermediate: As a key raw material for the production of betaines (zwitterionic surfactants with mild thickening properties) and amine oxides (zwitterionic surfactants with foam-boosting and foam-stabilizing functions), it is widely used in shampoos, body washes, skin care products and other formulations.

Direct Application: It is directly used as a conditioning agent, softener and antistatic agent in hair conditioners, shampoos and other products, which can significantly improve the combability of hair strands.

Textile and Paper Industries: It serves as a softener for the treatment of fabrics and paper, endowing the final products with a soft hand feel.

Asphalt Emulsification: It acts as an effective asphalt emulsifier and is applied in fields such as road construction.

Oilfield Chemistry: It is used as a component of acidizing fracturing fluids in oilfield drilling operations; its formulation is environmentally friendly and leaves minimal residue in the formation.

Other Applications: It can also be used as a corrosion inhibitor, mineral flotation agent and petroleum product additive, among other uses.




Safety and Storage

 

From a safety perspective, PKO12 is irritating and corrosive to the skin and eyes, and contact may cause burns. Strict personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn during handling to avoid direct contact.

In case of skin or eyes contact, immediately rinse with plenty of water for at least 30 minutes and seek medical assistance.

Stored in a sealed container in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area, away from sources of ignition, heat, and oxidizing agents.Store separately from incompatible substances such as acids.
