Product Features

PKO-O is a pale yellow to deep yellow viscous liquid at room temperature, with a relatively high flash point of approximately 259.1℃, classifying it as a non-flammable liquid. It has very low solubility in water (about 1.26 g/L at 20℃), yet is readily soluble in acidic media and most organic solvents. PKO-O is alkaline and capable of reacting with acids to form salts; meanwhile, it serves as a key raw material for the production of various high-value surfactants such as amine oxides, betaines and quaternary ammonium salts. These surfactants derived from it typically exhibit excellent emulsifying, dispersing, lubricating, antistatic and corrosion-inhibiting properties. PKO-O also features high-efficiency thickening performance—under acidic conditions, it can cause a sharp increase in the viscosity of the solution.

Application

Core Intermediate: It is used in the production of betaines (zwitterionic surfactants with mild thickening properties) and amine oxides (nonionic surfactants with foam-boosting and foam-stabilizing functions), serving as an essential raw material for products such as shampoos, body washes and facial cleansers.

Plastic and Fiber Industry：It acts as an internal/external lubricant and mold release agent in the processing of plastics including polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE), improving melt fluidity and mold release efficiency. In synthetic fiber production, it is employed as an antistatic agent and softener.

Oilfield and Mining Industry：In oilfield acidizing and fracturing operations, it functions as a viscoelastic surfactant (VES). When combined with acid fluids, it forms a thickening system that is environmentally friendly and causes minimal damage to the formation.

Safety and Storage

From a safety perspective, PKO-O is irritating and corrosive to the skin and eyes, and contact may cause burns. Strict personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn during handling to avoid direct contact.

In case of skin or eyes contact, immediately rinse with plenty of water for at least 30 minutes and seek medical assistance.

Stored in a sealed container in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area, away from sources of ignition, heat, and oxidizing agents.Store separately from incompatible substances such as acids.
