Product Features

 

Under ambient temperature and pressure, MOPA is a colorless to slightly yellow transparent liquid with a characteristic ammoniacal or fishy odor typical of amines. Its flash point varies slightly across different sources, ranging approximately from 23 °C to 48 °C. Classified as a flammable liquid, it requires strict fire prevention measures.

The primary amino group (-NH) in its molecular structure endows MOPA with basicity. It can react with acids to form salts and undergo typical amine reactions such as acylation and alkylation. The methoxy group (-OCH) enhances its solubility in organic solvents.

Equipped with both a hydrophilic amino group and a lipophilic methoxy group, MOPA serves as a high-performance intermediate and solvent, capable of achieving an excellent balance between water solubility and oil solubility. Meanwhile, the primary amino group provides high reactivity, facilitating its participation in various chemical synthesis processes.




Application

 

Dye IndustryAs a key intermediate, MOPA is used in the synthesis of disperse dyes, such as Disperse Blue 60 (Brilliant Blue).

Water Treatment & Corrosion InhibitorsIt serves as a corrosion inhibitor in the condensation systems of steam boilers, effectively inhibiting acidic corrosion induced by carbon dioxide. It is also applied in metal surface treatment to enhance coating adhesion.

Polymer IndustryMOPA acts as a catalyst in the production of polyurethane foams and epoxy resins.

Other FieldsAdditionally, it can be used as a raw material for grain protectants, emulsifiers, wetting agents, detergents and electronic etching solutions.





Safety and Storage

 

From a safety perspective, MOPA is characterized by significant corrosivity and flammability,it is irritating and corrosive to the skin and eyes, and contact may cause burns. Strict personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn during handling to avoid direct contact.

In case of skin or eyes contact, immediately rinse with plenty of water for at least 30 minutes and seek medical assistance.

Stored in a sealed container in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area, away from sources of ignition, heat, and oxidizing agents.
